The VCF Academy in Greece and the VCF Academy in Cyprus have renewed their relationship with Valencia CF. They remain a main axis of the VCF Academy Programs, with the Greek project stretching back some six years.
2500 boys and girls
Every day, around 2,500 boys and girls between 6 and 19 years old train at the different locations for the VCF Academy in Greece - Vari, Haidari, Kifisia, Pireaus, Kefalonia, Levadia, East Thessaloniki, Samos , Syros- and Cyprus (Nicosia) following the working methodology of the club.
work and confidence
"We are very happy with this renewal. With Valencia CF we work on real football and for us it is like a family," said Georgios Tolias, director of the VCF Academy Greece, after the extension was announced.
“For us it is a great joy to continue with Valencia CF” added Ambi Spyrou, director of the VCF Academy in Cyprus.
"We started out in a difficult period during the COVID-19 pandemic, but we feel the support of Valencia CF and renewing this contract shows that the club trust in the project we are carrying out.”
On behalf of the VCF Academy, director Luis Martínez said: “All our VCF Academies are part of the Valencia CF family and are fundamental for us. Furthermore, in the particular case of Greece and Cyprus, we have been working in harmony for several years and that joint work has also begun to have transferability this season."
erik's example
An example of this success has been the arrival of Erik Hamza to the VCF Juvenil B team this year. The 16-year-old trained at the Syros facility for the VCF Academy Greece and previously participated in the VCF Elite Camp.
In addition, several groups of players have carried out Training Experiences at the Ciudad Deportiva, teams have participated in the two editions of the VCF Academy World Cup, and several coaches took part in the I Academy Coaches Convention this past March.
close ties
“Valencia CF have one of the best international football departments and they have given us the opportunity to create this network of 14 academies. We work closely with them to make Valencia CF a bigger presence in our countries,” says Tolias.
“The project in Greece and Cyprus is growing, not only in terms of numbers but in quality as well. We have good players and, whilst the level in Greece is a little lower than in Spain, our objective is to take advantage of this opportunity to work with Valencia CF and improve our players."
GROWTH
The numbers speak of the growth of a soccer that is gradually raising its level. "The project in Greece and Cyprus is growing, not only in numbers but also in quality. We have good players, the level in Greece is a little lower than in Spain but that is our goal to take advantage of this opportunity to work with Valencia CF to improve our players" concludes George.
